Board Members and Executive Advisory

Our Board members and Executive Advisers are responsible for the overall management, compliance and control of the business and affairs of our organisation, providing strategic direction, effective governance and leadership.

The composition and structure of the Board has been strategically thought through.

It is formed by hand-picked Australian-Brazilian experienced professionals of the highest calibre, with a vast and powerful network of contacts in Australia and in Brazil.

The AUBRBC Board is invested in the highest aims and purposes of the association as a whole, guided by the interests of its members and supporters and the critical areas and industries relevant to the Australia-Brazil international trade relations.

Gleuto Serafim is the President and Chairman of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Gleuto is a successful technology entrepreneur and data architect. With his significant international commercial and IT experience, he is instrumental in solving big-picture problems and finding solutions that haven’t been tried before.

Gleuto’s information technology background and experience developed from demanding senior roles at Microsoft and IBM.

Gleuto believes that a good leader respects others and enables all relationships to flourish.

Gleuto has helped create and develop successful businesses built on critical trust relationships between customers and business, patients and hospitals, students and teachers and citizens and governments.

He has worked on five continents. In the Americas, he built a robust system of ethics for the digital age in a post-doctoral program at Harvard University, from where he earned his PhD title.

He also created secure sales systems for businesses in Brazil, data sharing solutions for Middle Eastern government agencies, besides his many achievements in Australia, Italy and Africa, using block-chain solutions amongst others.

Today Gleuto runs Ixxon Group, providing consultancy in architecture framework and methodology in Fintech, identity management, distributed frameworks, shared cryptography, adopting block-chain technology.

Gleuto was borne in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and lived in Brasilia – Distrito Federal, USA, Europe and Israel before he permanently moved to Australia more than 30 years ago. He is one of the initial co-founders of the association.

Marcelo Bussacarini is Vice-President of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Marcelo has a marketing and information technology background working for Cisco for the last 4 years, currently leading the Cyber-Security Marketing Asia Pacific & Japan team.

Marcelo is most energised in start-up situations of any kind being naturally able to pick the team and organise all of the key contributors, a true “instigator.”

He was also one of the initial co-founders of the association and President of BRACCA, a large Brazilian community association based in Sydney. Marcelo brings people together to create new and exciting projects.

Marcelo Bussacarini is Vice-President of the Australia-Brazil Business Council and also one of the initial co-founders of the association. He brings people together to create new and exciting projects.

Flavia Canelhas Ribeiro De Souza is Vice-President of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Flavia is an accomplished qualified Lawyer and Barrister of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia (2008), and also admitted to practice law in Brazil (2001).

Flavia was borne and raised in Sao Paulo capital, Brazil, where she lived before moving to Australia 18 years ago.

She is the founder and Principal of Oceania Legal, a commercial and corporate legal practice based in Sydney.

Flavia gathered invaluable hands-on business and legal experience working in-house at some of the largest and highest performance Australian and overseas blue chip companies (Lend Lease, Commonwealt Bank and Pirelli Group), and at leading Australian and overseas commercial law firms.

Flavia is passionate for international affairs and as Vice-President of the Australia-Brazil Business Council, she helps guiding those with commercial ties, investments and interests between Australia and Brazil.

She has acted for many SME’s (small and medium sized business with up to $50M turnover), businesses experiencing growth and startups seeking to establish operations in Australia and in Brazil.

She is also a savvy business adviser, international consultant and investor, and a casual lecturer teaching theory and practice of Australian Commercial Law in Sydney.

Flavia is the Australian Representative of the Brazilian Institute for the Development of International Business Relations – IBREI, based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Vinicius Cardoso is a Director and Secretary of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Vinicius is an IT Solutions Engineer with extensive experience with customers solving data and analytics challenges. He has acted as a solution and technology adviser to large multinational organisations, working closely to senior IT leaders, program directors and project teams, on analytics related projects.

He currently works for Claudera Australia and built his great experience in information technology and management providing services to SAS Australia, IBM Australia and Brazil and one of the largest private banks in Brazil, Bradesco.

Thais Oso is an Executive Director of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Thais is the Head of Product at Laneway Education, responsible for the development of accredited and non-accredited courses in the areas of leadership, marketing and entrepreneurship and leads the team of facilitators who specialise in the delivery of experiential project-based learning and design thinking in Australia.

Thais started her career as a psychologist working in the favelas and psychiatric prisons of Brazil.

She moved to Australia 15 years ago and has since become a leading business educator, coach and speaker.

If you asked Thais when she was a child what she wanted to do when she grew up, she would have said: “I want to change the world and make it a better place”. She eventually realised that it would be hard to change the entire world all by herself, however, she learned that through education she could change the people and businesses around her and through their collective power they could change the world. 

Thais helps many students entrepreneurs through their journey of setting up businesses in Australia, using disruptive education methods empowering students to engage in real-world problems and opportunities in a creative way.

With a billion dollar and continuously growing industry in Australia, the education sector is sure to be held as an important item within our association’s purposes.

Marcos Lucoli is an Executive Director of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Marcos has an International Business Bachelor Degree specialising in the construction industry. He currently works as Structural Draftsman at Australian Ports and Marinas.

With extensive experience in the construction and building industry in Australia and in Brazil (having worked for Docol for many years) Marcos has the eye for coordinating and organising workforce to execute projects according to design, builders  and engineers requirements.

Marcos worked for Docol in international sales assisting Latin America customers from 2009 to 2012.

As a result, Marcos brings a wealth of experience and provides significant advisory to our association’s board in this relevant industry for both Australia and Brazil.

Luiz Augusto Carneiro is an Executive Director of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Luiz is an Economist and Independent consultant, former executive and tertiary Professor at University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He brings a wealth of experience to our board, particularly in financial, strategic planning and corporate finance.

Luiz also has broad knowledge and experience in most lines of the insurance business and services including private health insurance, reinsurance, pension funds (superannuation) and healthcare.

Luiz is a new valuable member of our board bringing his great experience in general management, leadership, change management, implementation of strategic/financial/business plan, project/asset valuation, financial modelling, also closely available on a consulting basis to our members.

Heitor Reis is a Senior Adviser of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Heitor Reis is a highly respected member adviser and well known figure of the political and business scenery in Brazil.

With a public relations and advertising background, he is a former Director of DETUR (Brazilian Federal District Tourism Department), former Secretary of Housing Department of Brazilian Federal Government, and Alternate Senator in Brasilia.

Heitor Reis was also an Executive-Member and General Secretary of PFL (one of the largest Liberal Political Parties in Brazil) as well as one of its co-founders in 1985; and President of Trancredo Neves Institute (a highly regarded political research institute).

Heitor Reis brings a incredible wealth of experience, wisdom and a powerful network of contacts in Brazil, specially in the political capital Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro.

From 2004 to 2007, he run a successful import and export wine company in Brazil, exclusively representing many well known brands such as Grand Cru, a famous Argentinean vineyard.

With over 30 years experience in the public relations and advertising industry in Brazil, Heitor Reis is a Senior Adviser of the Australia-Brazil Business Council, assisting the board and members with strategic consulting and connections in Brazil.

Heitor is very passionate about Brazil and divides his time between Brasilia, Rio and Sydney where his daughter and 3 young grandsons live permanently.

Valmor Morais is an Adviser of the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Valmor is a former Honorary Consul of Brazil (Queensland, Australia).

With a corporate and legal background, Valmor has an excellent track record of experience in commercial, corporate governance and immigration law in Australia.

Brazilian by birth, Valmor is an Australian citizen and lived in Italy, USA and now, in Australia.

Valmor is recognised for his resourcefulness and have been entrusted with positions of high level of responsibility in Australia and in Brazil.

He worked for 9 years as a Legal and Compliance Coordinator at JBS Australia, Australia’s largest meat processor and protein producer with over 12,000 employees in the country and annual revenue of US$ 4 Billion (a subsidiary of the world’s largest protein producer with 215,000 employees, ranked 766 in the Forbes’ Global 2000 list of the world’s biggest companies, with revenue of USD 80 Billion, a Brazilian company).

Today, Valmor is an accredited Australian mediator and has a Master of Laws from the University of Queensland (2013). He was also admitted to practice law in Brazil in 2008.

Carol Diniz is the Events Coordinator at the Australia-Brazil Business Council.

Carol holds a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Advertising.

Carol is a Senior Events Manager with significant experience in diplomatic and corporate events, organising gatherings and functions of 20 to 2,000 people, including large music festivals, sports and major public events in Australia and overseas.

Brazilian citizen and Australian resident, currently living in Canberra from where she manages all marketing, public relations and events of the association.

Carol is the first point of contact  of our association managing all communications with new members, sponsors, partners and stakeholders.

She adds tremendous value to AUBRBC acting as a leader for all events and major projects managing budgets, allocating resources, and executing the production.

She has worked for many respected Australian organisations such as volunteer at Vivid Sydney Festival, as a Licencing Assistant for Racing NSW, and as an Events Manager of the U20 FIFA Football Friendly Matches, amongst others.
